Board of Directors - Election Process

The election process for new members to the WAIMH Board of Directors usually takes around 3-4 months. Latest election (in 2020) was for the 2020-2024 term. Below you can find the election process as a reference on the process.


WAIMH Board of Directors election for the term 2020-2024

Two Directors of the WAIMH Board, Jody Todd Manly and Hisako Watanabe, will end their four-year term of office in June 2020. They have worked with great dedication and warmth on behalf of WAIMH during their term. 

President President Kai von Klitzing steps down from his position as the President of WAIMH and becomes the Past President, while President-Elect Campbell Paul starts his term as the new President of WAIMH.

According to the Bylaws of WAIMH, two Directors will be elected by the members of WAIMH and one will be appointed by the new President at the beginning of his term. 

The voting time for the two new Directors was Jan 21st - Feb 25th, 2020. The new WAIMH Board members for the years 2020-2024 are Hisako Watanabe and Catherine Maguire.

Election for the term 2020-2024

We wish to thank you for taking part in voting a WAIMH Board member for the term 2020-2024. We want specially to thank the seven candidates: Sherri Alderman, Catherine Maguire, Giampaolo Nicolais, Nichole Paradis, Clara Schejtman, Jody Todd Manly and Hisako Watanabe , for their dedication to promote infant mental health globally.

Altogether 788 WAIMH members (2019 or 2020) were eligible to vote in the election taking place 20th January – 21st February 2020 (EET). A member could vote for one candidate. A total of 247 members cast their vote. The voter turnout was at 31%. All the 94 persons who paid their membership fee during the month of election were given the possibility to cast their vote. E-mails with links were posted on a weekly basis, the latest being sent four hours prior to the deadline.

Election for the term 2018-2021

Altogether 1161 WAIMH members (2016 or 2017) were eligible to vote in the election taking place 15th November - 15th December 2017 (GMT). A member could vote for one candidate. A total of 239 members cast their vote. The voter turnout was at 20.6%. The results show that Astrid Berg was elected with 79 votes. The numbers of votes for the other candidates were: Julie Stone 75, Nicole Letourneau 43 and Holly Brophy-Herb 42 votes.

The Board of Directors manages the business of the association and exercises all corporate powers.
